Summary
As a Biobank Coordinator, you will manage the biobank, which centralizes a diverse range of human samples—such as tissues, blood-born samples, and DNA—for clinical studies and assay development. The biobank complies with the Royal Belgian Decree of Biobanks, and your role will involve overseeing the regulatory, administrative, and organizational aspects of the biobank program at CellCarta.
Responsibilities
- Lead the biobank operations: selection of commercial vendors and local hospitals, sourcing, accessioning, and qualifying all biobank samples needed for CellCarta’s scientific programs.
- Guarantee full traceability of all biobank samples using the LIMS system.
- Perform sample management system maintenance, improvements and quality control.
- Ensure appropriate biobank documentation (contracts, agreements amongst others) is kept up to date.
- Ensure that policies, SOPs, and protocols are harmonized with relevant regulations, quality standards and good clinical practices.
- Act as primary point of contact with regards to all biobank related questions from internal and external stakeholders.
- Train team members on the importance of the correct use of human biospecimens.
- Participate in audits to cover biobank related inquiries.
- Create appropriate reports for internal and external parties.
- Master or PhD in Life Sciences (preferably Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical sciences, Biochemistry, Biobanking) or equivalent through experience.
- Previous experience in biobank management and biobank quality principles is an asset, but not a requirement.
- Solid basis in histology/histopathology and/or microscopy is an asset.
- Strong computer skills and significant experience with Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, and Word are required.
- Willing to perform routine procedures and to learn and make improvements to current work flows.
- Highly organized, and able to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
- A meticulous attention to detail, proficient reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible, social, diplomatic, a team player, inspirational, and a strong communicator.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Onsite at our Wilrijk, Antwerp location, with hybrid flexibility.
