Summary
In this role, you will lead the set-up and expansion of our in-house Next Generation Sequencing work at our Naperville facility, accelerating CellCarta’s Genomics capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • The Lead, NGS manages and implements activities related to laboratory capacity strengthening in support of the development and growth of Next Generation Sequencing activities at CellCarta Naperville.
  • The incumbent of this position provides technical assistance and facilitates training for CellCarta NGS activities
  • The Lead, NGS coordinates the implementation or assessment of genomics laboratory practices and management at CellCarta
  • This will include serving as a subject matter expert on NGS, PCR, bioinformatics, strategic planning and building laboratory capacity.
  • The Lead, NGS may supervise staff at CellCarta and will serve as a technical advisor
  • Deliver the required technical performance of the sequencing process according to specification, on time and within budget
  • Work collaboratively with other groups and departments within projects to contribute to the successful development of NGS workflows, from sample to result
  • Mentor and develop staff under their direction (in matrix role)
  • Serve as subject matter expert and provide technical assistance for technologies, with topics including:
  • Next-generation sequencing on Illumina instruments
  • Wet bench NGS methods
  • Protocol development and implementation
  • Technical specifications for NGS equipment
  • Molecular method creation, optimization, and troubleshooting
  • Provides virtual and in-person training on molecular methods, including but not limited to NGS and PCR
  • Manages the development of technical project activities and training programs; presents training on NGS, laboratory testing methods, biosafety/biosecurity, quality
  • Manages technical program activities and administrative reporting requirements in accordance with sponsor requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Education
  • Master’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college/university in the Biological Sciences, including but not limited to, Medical, Pharmaceutical or Biomedical Laboratory Technology, or Biochemistry
Main Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years’ NGS experience in an accredited environment (e.g.,Biotech/CRO)
  • Demonstrated ability to hire and lead a technical team.
  • Extensive experience with library preparation for next generation sequencing (NGS), optimizing novel next-generation sequencing assays and trouble-shooting protocols.
  • Strong scientific background in molecular biology, with demonstrated understanding of bioinformatics.
  • Candidate should be well versed in genomics, bioinformatics, and NGS sequencing data analysis.
  • Good knowledge of GCLP and CAP/CLIA guidelines and implementation
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent time and project management, communication and team working skills.
  • Ability to work in complexity, manage different projects and deliver to defined timelines.
  • Highly organized, with demonstrated experience in lab management tasks such as SOP writing, inventory management.
