Summary
CellCarta is search of a Bio Sample Management Technician working out of our Lake Forest, CA laboratory. The Bio Sample Management Technician is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of Sample Management duties, including sample reception, sample storage, and sample shipments.
Responsibilities
- Receives, unpacks and verifies contents of incoming specimen shipments
- Timely and accurately perform accessioning and labeling of specimens
- Maintain appropriate communication via email in confirming receipt of specimens and/or query of any missing or conflicting information ensuring adherence to proper documentation techniques
- Complete shipment requests containing items such as specimens, images, records, reagents, in an accurate and timely manner.
- Pack shipments in accordance with all applicable regulations, including confirmation of all international export documentation requirements prior to dispatch.
- Pull specimens such as FFPE blocks, slides and frozen plasma for shipments, disposals, or changes in storage locations
- Perform specimen inventory by confirming/reconciling location and updating trackers as needed.
- Perform and document specimen/reagent destruction requests.
- Performs 100% QC checks on various Sample management tasks and documentation as required and forward respective specimens to appropriate location
- Generate and maintain appropriate documentation for sample management activities by tracking, collating, and updating study-specific information via databases, spreadsheets, and other tools.
- Ensure that routine equipment maintenance and documentation of equipment maintenance is in order.
- Ensure that the preventative maintenance and documentation are completed on time.
- Maintain a clean, well-organized laboratory.
Education
- Bachelors degree preferred; minimum HS Diploma or GED
- Experience with building and shipping sample collection kits, or working a manufacturing environment preferred
- High attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office programs
- This is a full-time day shift position, Tuesday - Saturday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
- Must accept to perform activities in a Biosafety Level (BSL) 1 or 2 laboratory where biological samples may be either naturally or experimentally infected with potentially hazardous viruses such as HIV, HCV, or CMV.
